Ms. Patterson has more than 20 years of experience as a mediator, arbitrator, and facilitator. She has a longstanding commitment to utilizing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) tools, strategies and practices to resolve conflicts. Ms. Patterson is on the neutral roster of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution (CPR), American Arbitration Association (AAA), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), and Dispute Resolution Boards. In addition, she has supported local and national public engagement efforts via organizations such as America Speaks, RESOLVE, the National Institute for Civil Discourse, and the Kellogg Foundation.

Ms. Patterson has served as a panelist presenter at the American Bar Association (ABA)Section of Dispute Resolution conferences on various topics including “Arbitration Update: Revised Uniform Arbitration Act, Disclosure and Diversity Jurisdiction”, “Advanced Communication Skills: Rapport Building”, and “Attribution Theory: Cross-Cultural Pitfalls and Practices”. In November 2020 she co-presented “ Facilitating Anti- Racism Discussions as a Form of Mediation” at the Oregon Mediators Association Annual Conference. In November 2021 Ms. Patterson presented “Mediator Power and Privilege: The First Cycle of Liberation” at The Conflict Lab’s  2021 Mary Parker Follett Week Program.

Ms. Patterson has been featured in several publications including the Association for Conflict Resolution‘s ACResolution magazine, the United Nations Association of United States Interdependent magazine, Rolling Out magazine, the US Geospatial Foundation’s Trajectory magazine, the George Wsashington University’s Center for Excellence in Public Leadership newsletter as well as the American Bar Association (ABA)Section of Dispute Resolution Just Resolutions newsletter.

Ms. Patterson is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) North America Branch (NAB), Arbitral Women, the Mid-Atlantic Facilitators Network (MAFN), the International Association of Facilitators (IAF), the ABA, and the National Bar Association (ABA).

Ms. Patterson serves on the Council of the ABA Dispute Resolution  (DR) Section, she serves as co-chair of the ABA DR Section Women in Dispute Resolution Committee, and serves as vice-chair of the ABA DR Section Public Disputes and Consensus Building Committee. In addition, Ms. Patterson serves on the Leadership Advisory Council of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and the FBI Baltimore Field Office Citizens Academy Alumni Association . She is a former Commissioner with the Montgomery County Maryland Human Rights Commission and currently is a Commissioner with Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) where she serves as an adviser to the Commission’s Diversity Council and the Information Technology (IT) Council and represents MNCPPC on the Montgomery County Remembrance and Reconciliation Commission.

Ms. Patterson holds a Bachelors degrees from Brown University, a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Studies in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Southern Methodist University, and a Masters in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law Straus Institute.

Ms. Patterson has served as arbitrator (as a panel member, Chair, or sole arbitrator) in more than 100 cases.
