On 16 July, 2020 the Petrobras group of companies filed an appeal in the US Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit, against the decision of the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas which confirmed a $622 million arbitration award in favour of a Texas oil rig operator, Vantage Deepwater Co. Petrobras claims on appeal that the award cannot be be enforced on grounds of public policy and must, therefore, be vacated. Petrobras also argues that the district court erred in denying the defendants’ discovery motions.
